Open Days

From time to time we open the farm gates and put on a on farm field day where you can experience the activities that take place on a real life organic working farm.

FARM GATE TOUR – 8-10 June, 2013

Ten farms will be opening their gates to the public for a hands-on farming experience to remember.  Our farm will be one of those. For more info, see the poster below.  We will be running three hour tours of the farm on the Saturday and Sunday from 9:30am to 12:30pm but you must purchase a Farm Gate tour booklet to come on the tour. With that booklet, you can visit as few or as many of the farms as you like!

FARM GATE TOUR – 9-11 June, 2012.

This tour involved 10 farms in the Hastings and Camden Haven, including ours.  Tours ran over the three days (some concurrently). Participants purchased a booklet which entitled them to tour any of the ten farms and gives information and directions.  Almost 60 people attended our tour to see the chickens, the milking and to have morning tea.  $190 was raised for the Starlight Foundation’s Trek 4 Kidz.  It is planned to make the Farm Gate Tour an annual event on the June long weekend.  Contact Hastings Landcare on 6586 4465 for more information on future Tours.

Starlight Trek4Kidz days - 14-15 July, 2011 and 7 July, 2012
In 2011, over 80 people attended these open days, raising over $1200 for the Starlight Trek4Kidz.  In 2012 over 40 people helped raise $770 for the Trek4Kidz.  On these days, particpants were able to get hands on with the animals on our farm. They saw the cows being milked, fed the calves and collected the eggs. They also were treated to a delicious morning tea and lunch. Thank you to all who attended!

October 5th and 6th, 2010
Two more open days were held on these days as part of the Tastings of the Hastings month in October. They allowed participants the chance to see the farm up close and to connect with the source of the eggs and milk which they buy.  We hope to hold more of these days in the future.

If you would like to be notified of any upcoming open days, please email Ann at and she will add you to the mailing list.
